Former CEO Asia at Coherent and Technology Consulting Partner at EY Consulting, Joel has over two and a half decades of extensive experience in digital and emerging technologies within the financial services industry. He brings invaluable insights to Synpulse and will be focusing on enhancing insurance and banking propositions in the APAC region, including digital transformation, legacy modernisation, embedded insurance, and data & AI.
Joel's career is marked by a unique blend of expertise across financial services, deploying advanced technology solutions that drive high-value outcomes for distinct client/sector issues and market opportunities. Leveraging digital, AI and emerging technologies to develop new business models and cross sector convergence. His expertise spans the entire consulting lifecycle, from business strategy to cutting-edge technology solutions and implementation. Notably, Joel has led iconic projects including:
- Founder of several EY global solutions such as EY TaxGrid and EY wavespace Hong Kong
- Guidewire transformation for a global insurer: Core insurance platform transformation project across seven markets.
- EMPF Pensions Reform/Platform: Strategic advisor and lead solution design for the Mandatory Provident Fund Authority (Hong Kong Regulatory body)
- Hong Kong Exchange (HKEX): Lead the overall implementation of core platform for listings and robotics process automation.
- P2P Payments Platform (Tier 1 Bank): Strategy, design, implementation, and launch.
- Launch of a virtual bank: Strategy, licensing, and design of a major bank’s new virtual bank in Hong Kong.
